How incidents impact congestion on roadways: A queuing network approach

چکیده
Motivated by the need for transportation infrastructure and incident management planning, we study traffic density under non-recurrent congestion. This paper provides an analytical solution approximating stationary distribution of in roadways where deterioration service occurs unpredictably. The proposed generalizes a queuing model discussed literature to long segments that are not space-homogeneous. We compare single tandem approaches different lengths verify whether each is appropriate. A single-queue approach works sufficiently well with similar behavior across space. In contrast, tandem-queue more appropriately describes sections having distinct characteristics. These models have comparable fit ones generated using lognormal distribution. However, they also interpretable parameters, directly connecting congestion dynamics roadway behavior. general, adaptable, tractable, thus being instrumental management.

In space information network, the long delay and high link error rate are the most different characteristics from the traditional ground network. Based on the queuing game theory, a novel congestion control is proposed in this paper. It assumes that the users pay an admission fee for entering the queue, and then cost during the waiting time, at last they obtain a benefit from the node when they...
متن کاملA network approach to signalling network congestion control
Congestion control in Signaling System #7 faces new challenges as mobile communication systems and Intelligent Networks grow rapidly. New services change traffic patterns, add to signalling network load, and raise demands on shorter service completion times. To handle new demands, the congestion control mechanisms must foresee an overload situation, and respond to it so that the network can mai...

In recent years, authors have focused on modeling and forecasting volatility in financial series it is crucial for the characterization of markets, portfolio optimization and asset valuation. One of the most used methods to forecast market volatility is the linear regression. Nonetheless, the errors in prediction using this approach are often quite high. Hence, continued research is conducted t...
متن کاملStep Tolling with Bottleneck Queuing Congestion
In most dynamic traffic congestion models, congestion tolls must vary continuously over time to achieve the full optimum. This is also the case in Vickrey's (1969) ‘bottleneck model’. To date, the closest approximations of this ideal in practice have so-called ‘step tolls’, in which the toll takes on different values over discrete time intervals, but is constant within each interval. Given the ...
